Margaret River Wines: ESD Energy Modelling

The goal of this project is to evaluate the energy performance of the Margaret River Winery, located in Southwestern Australia, classified in climate zone 5. The project location experiences a coastal climate influenced by the wind called the Fremantle Doctor, a comfortable sea breeze from the southwest. This can provide free cooling, especially during a hot summer afternoon. To achieve the off-grid operation, three main strategies in the seven steps: passive design strategies, active system strategies and energy offset strategies.

• 1. Passive design strategies:
  After the first passive design strategies, the overheating can be improved and also increase the indoor comfort hours, indoor temperature and solar gain.

• 2. Active system strategies:
  After adding the active system, the energy loads decrease by half after two strategies.

• 3. Energy offset strategies:
  After installing solar PV and wind energy on site, the total building energy demand can be fully offset
