ESD Academic-Industry Collaboration Project (Pro Bono)

Collaboration: Sustainable Built Environments (SBE) × Melbourne High School

I independently delivered both the Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) report and presentation. This is a collaboration between Sustainable Built Environments (SBE) and Melbourne High School. The goal of this project is to analyse ESD strategies for the Art Building through energy modelling, with the aim of reducing operating costs by helping the building run more environmentally and economically.

This Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) report assesses retrofit strategies for the 18 year old Melbourne High School Art Building to improve energy performance and reduce operational costs. The simulations for this study were undertaken using energy modelling software, Better Building. Using this tool, the study simulated the relative and combined impacts of various ESD retrofit initiatives, evaluating potential energy reductions and identifying practical and physical opportunities for performance improvement.

I appreciate the technical support, ESD insights, and mentorship provided by Sustainable Built Environments (SBE) and Sean McArdle, Associate Director at SBE. Their guidance contributed to the development of the energy modelling approach and ESD strategies presented in this project.
